Driver's Education Program
Gordon County Schools Transportation Department is proud to offer a Georgia Department of Transportation approved Driver's Education program for high school students. Students participating in this program will have the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in behind-the-wheel instruction and prepare them for life on the road as a responsible driver. The GCS Driver's Education Program is available for any student that has their learner’s permit, regardless of the school they attend.
Following Joshua's Law, all 16 and 17-year olds are required to complete a certified driver education course before they can obtain their license or wait until the age of 18 to receive your license.
In order for students to complete the Driver's Education Program, each student must complete 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of driving time. All class curriculum and tests are conducted utilizing AAA How to Drive 15th Edition.
Our program is certified through Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS). Our DDS program certification numbers are:
DT# 480 (Gordon Central High)
DT# 481 (Sonoraville High).
