Career, Technical, and Agriculture Education
Career, Technical, and Agriculture Education (CTAE) is an essential component of the middle school and high school curriculum. For many students, it represents as much as a third of their secondary school experience. It is a critical component in meeting the needs of students in academic achievement, career exploration, career preparation, and leadership development.
CTAE fosters college and career readiness and successful transition to postsecondary education, work, or the military through opportunities such as:
career pathways, which include national assessments that award students industry accreditation
work-based learning opportunities
dual and joint enrollment
Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs), such as FFA, FCCLA and Skills USA
hands-on experience that provides relevance to the educational experience
increased high school graduation rates
Gordon County Schools offers a variety of CTAE courses in 3 locations: Gordon Central High School, Sonoraville High School, and the Gordon County College and Career Academy. Additionally, career exploration and connections classes are available at the middle school level.
